Wow. [10 Oct 2009|01:55pm]

Okay.

I know this isn't going to be popular with some folks, but fuck it, y'know?

So, in a of days, the world community has given us here in our fortress of perpetual panic a certain message.

1) Thanks, but Chicago isn't the best place for the olympics. (AKA: Bugger off, get your shit straight before you come asking for handouts.)

2) We love you guys anyway. (And pass this shiny award to your figurehead. Thanks for pulling your heads out of your asses.)

So why, oh why, have the squawking right wing blowhards (not dragging party into this. You know who you are.) not gotten the drift? Look, the Nobel is a reward for efforts. If they only gave it out for 100% successes, then the whole system falls apart. It is supposed to encourage people to strive. Not all great efforts succeed. What great efforts do is give other people encouragement to try.

The Prize gives more spotlight to great struggles. It brings focus to bear on mankind's troubles, and political weight and It highlights humanity's will to reach peace. It honors not just achievements, but hearts and minds.

So, thank you, international community. We love you, too.

Ignore our crazies, and we will ignore yours. After all, ignoring the barking of senile dogs is part of being neighbors.

Sick [07 Mar 2009|02:45pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

So, I'm out on sick leave because, well, my vertigo progressed to a point where I would literally have to stop whatever I'm doing, close my eyes, hold my breath for a few seconds and LIE THE HELL DOWN for like... an hour.

Can't do that crap at work.

That being said, I should be back at work on Tuesday, doc said I was to be out through Monday, and if I'm not feeling better, she wants my ass back in the clinic to do a furter exam. In case I have brain worms or something.

I am feeling better, though. Being able to do the exercises she reccomended helps.

Speaking of exercises, I really have been having the urge to work out, but combined with Fear Of Dizziness, it's turned into "What can I do at home that won't make me die if I fall?"

As soon as I'm better, I will be gym-bound.

Hey cats and kittens....

GO CHECK OUT [info]oraclerelic . ZOMG.

Remember to scroll to the bottom and start reading from there. The posts are all open for input--and soon I'll start making private (friends-only) posts for my readers.

I'd like to hear everyone's feedback on this stuff--especially those of you who have read/listened to the Tales From The Afternow by Sean Kennedy.

This is going to end after a few rounds of read posts in a transferrance into more of another radio opera like Afternow.

I'm going to need more people to be voice actors, and want contributions--ideas for villains, heroes and even the occasional stranger.

Love interest? Maybe... Someday.

TAWLK TEH ME.
Lulz.

Also: It is unbelievably chilly here in my corner of the office. Siberia. You know. Yeah.

New Project [05 Feb 2009|12:00pm]
Hey, guys!

I have started really churning up the steam on a new project.

it is based on Sean Kennedy's Tales from the Afternow. I am publishing it here on lj, add user oraclerelic to watch it as I go.

Posting everything from either my phone or the wii for the rest of the week--it is my birthday and I dare not risk life/limb of my coworkers.

As such, plz forgive broken/failed links and punctuation issues.

I am really interested in your feedback on the Relic project, and as time goes on, will want you guys to help build supporting cast. Villains, plotlines, heroes and companions--I will need your help.

Gunna put something up on myspace.

Act now, ladies and gentlemen [10 Nov 2008|12:08pm]
reposted from http://www.vampst.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=Rant&action=display&thread=7961

I know there are several people in our community who fel strongly about what happened in California, but didn't know what they could do from WA.

Well, here you go:
http://www.jointheimpact.com/

Get The Word Out!
We can’t wait for any large scale organization to get the word out for us. We have 1 week to put together a NATIONAL PROTEST and start a mobilized movement for equality! When we all come together as one voice on November 15th, we will show the nation that we can do more than just talk, we can act! We won’t solve everything in one protest, but we will fuel the fire to a conversation that can not be silenced! If we stop talking about equality for all, then we will lose the battle. If we allow others to stop talking about it, then we will lose. Hate is not the lack of love, it’s the fear of that which we do not know. This protest along with many others gives us the chance to build on the conversation and educate the masses. It’s very simple: Infiltrate, Educate, and STOP HATE!

Get the word out:

Text your friends and family telling them to check out this site, tell them to mobilize on November 15th and ask them to forward that text message to 10 friends each.

Email everyone you know - email your friends, email your enemies, email your allies, tell them to Join The Impact, tell them where their protest location is, and ask them to forward that email to 10 friends at minimum.

Comment - Comment on this blog and tell people where you are protesting. Give contact information if you want to lead the protest.

Flyer the City - We are in the process of making flyers for this event. Print them out and put them all over your city.

Contact your local Gay & Lesbian organizations - Keep the organizations that help us out daily in the loop. Let them know about this, encourage them to join, and encourage them to bring donation boxes so that they can keep earning the money necessary to speak out for us!

Contact the media - Let’s get this all over your local paper. Let’s get your news channels involved and get our faces in the public eye!

Contact your allied politicians - Thanks to the hard work of generations before us, we are lucky enough to have politicians that are open allies and even out of the closet. Contact them and ask for their help.

Have another idea? Include ideas on getting the word out in the comments of this post!

ALL HANDS ON DECK! (For storytime!) [01 Aug 2008|07:08pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

The Airship Empress Aranea’s Revenge drifted through a starry night, moving with a startling grace above the sea of clouds. She was a large ship, stretching nearly 60 meters at her gundeck, and her silvery connecting beams hugged the body of her rigid balloon, a stark contrast on the black-on-black of the ship. Her gleaming silver-and-violet representation of the Royal Seal on the bow shone in the moonlight—all in all, a most impressive vessel.

We intrude here, upon the thoughts of Her Capitan, Bridget Deacon.

Steampunk Goodness [13 May 2008|11:24am]
[ mood | blank ]

Yarr, mateys.

So, this is partially a post for interested parties, and partially a post so I have reminder of spelling and names and whatnot:

I and some of my buddies have decided to get together and do a "ship" steampunk thing for cosplay and whatnot.

So far, we've decided that we're the crew of the Chaosium Empire's dimension-hopping new navy--the crew, in fact of its flagship, the "Empress Aranea's Revenge". This Coalition-type (For you rifts fans... except magic with its chaos is GOOD), Spartan-with-chaotic-tendencies Empire (Guided by none other than the esteemed Empress Aranea "The Vicious".) is currently manned by a brilliant and dangerous Captain, her First Mate, we have a Science Officer (Who doubles as a Medical Officer, much to the chagrin of injured parties--who wants a mad scientist tinkering around with your out-cold body?) and a psychotic Political Officer.

We're still hammering out the details, but so far it's:
Captain - Moi
First Mate - Rose
Science Officer - Geoff
Political Officer - Panda/Andy

A week in the life of me [05 Nov 2007|06:24pm]

[ music | Sean Kennedy's NewsReal ]

For the record, kids, we're all going straight to Hell. The sins of the father are visited upon the son.

We are descending, kids. descending into a pit of legislation from which we're not going to get out of soon.

Thought crime Bill: http://mathaba.net/rss/?x=568569
A Bill of Population Regulation: http://www.10zenmonkeys.com/2007/10/22/prior-permission-from-government-to-be-required-for-each-flight/

Guys? What? WHAT? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?? WHAT. THE. FUCK?

Thought crimes? Paperwork to fly locally? Government regulations requiring citizens to give their personal documentation to people who could very well be unbonded contractors or anyone who wants to steal your personal information?

WHAT. THE. FUCK. IS. WRONG. WITH. THIS. PICTURE?

Still alive [29 Sep 2007|03:20pm]

[ music | DINGDING! YET ANOTHER CALL! ]

I'm still here, world. Busy, cranky, but here.

I've been under a lot of stress lately, but I think the stress is finally going to come to some form of resolution, like it or not. I really want to like it, though.

Life here in the TSD has gotten hairy, too. We now have an enforcable policy that makes it so we have to take the call, every time unless the calling rep declines it.

Sounds great for the good reps who are getting pushed back on by bad TSD reps.

For those of us good TSD reps, though, dealing with bad care reps, it's horrible. Considering that they outnumber us something to the tune of 200:1 nationwide, I somehow doubt that there are more bad TSD reps than bad care reps.

So I find myself dealing with stuff that I was supposedly promoted out of, up to and including explaining the difference between an international long distance charge and plain old "You went over your minutes" charges.

Shoot me.

Oh! [17 Jul 2007|12:58am]
Tony Snow cites the August heat as the reason why the Iraqi Parliament is taking a break.
It's been said to be:
"The most offensive, arrogant statement Tony Snow could have made."

So. Did anyone tell them how the US constitution and bill of rights got polished off?
The guys in charge locked everyone in and shut the windows in the Philadelphia summer heat until they got it sorted out.

And they were all probably wearing wool.

Tony Snow's a goddamn retard.

That is all.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! [17 Jul 2007|12:25am]
[ mood | cranky ]

So.

Raise your hand if you know about my paranoia, fear of abandonment and separation anxiety! Now, put your hands down.

Geoff's gone, none of my friends are available to distract me. I want to do things and I'm all stuck.

I think tomorrow I'm going to go get lost downtown for a while or something tomorrow.

Everything annoys me right now. I'm a little stressed over a lot of things, and really snappish.

Allow me to apologize right now if I'm bitchy or cranky. I'm just stressed. I'm brittle because my coping mechanisms are all going CRASH! BOOM!

Mew.

Meme thing, from Lizzard. [01 Jun 2007|07:01pm]
Okay, I think this is how it works.

If you comment, I'll check out your LJ profile. In particular, the interests section. I will then pick three "interests" in that, and ask you to explain them. You then post an LJ entry explaining those three interests, along with this explanation.

1) Adventure Quest - OMFG... cutest flash game ever. www.battleon.com

2) FPS - First Person Shooters. Like 'em, don't love 'em, but better than some games available.

3) rantradio: www.rantradio.com, part of www.rantmedia.ca Spread The Virus.
I like the radio, but only when I learn something. The corporate media is /not/ your friend. Turn off the TV and read. Learn. It's really cool, check it out :D

Command Central [07 Feb 2007|01:04am]
[ mood | devious ]

Scene:
Command Central, active duty machines are buzzing. Something's up. The lights are down and the ship seems to be under a full-scale attack, except--nothing's broken.

There are no wailing sirens. There are no sparking panels. There is no gut-wrenching thump. The form of Mecha dangles from her harness as she has slipped into the Ether to be one with Server.

FaithRepentHate stands in a chamber, fingers running over the new synthetic replacements for her damaged form. The expression on her face as she tests it and calibrates her new armor to the new upgrades. Her twitch sensitivity is stronger, and the failsafes that monitor her Chaos balance are more accurate.

Scene:

Lights are dimmed again, this time in the med bay. The spider-drones swarm over an inert form, stripping away bashed up armor, the once-flickering lights dimmed. Done. Gone.

The body on the table's pretty mangled. It is clear to the viewer that what is on the table was once humanoid, but something organic that's been exposed to vacuum isn't... pretty.

Nonetheless, nanites are fast at work repairing the small bits, and the servo-spiders are gifted with the preternatural dexterity and grace of the Machine. Tapped into Server, they are filled with all the knowledge of repair anyone has ever possessed.

They develop knowledge as they proceed. They are smart machines.
